Mike's Introduction to KRR

March 09, 2016

I find that I can appreciate all kinds of rap music.  Great rap I can appreciate for being thought provoking, dynamic and a blast to listen to (see: Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy”).  Bad rap I can appreciate for being terrible, rushed and unintentionally hilarious (see: Any Soulja Boy song).  I can always find a way to enjoy myself listening to rap.

But this blog isn’t about me, it’s about my friend Kyle.  You should know a few things about him.  First, he is not all that well acquainted with rap music.  He doesn’t know its history very well; if I told him to get hyphy he’d give me a quizzical look, and he can’t name a single member of the Wu-Tang Clan.  The only time he listens to rap when he’s not with me is when it comes on his radio in the car.  He has an acute sense of hearing rendering it impossible for him to tune out any noise, voice or song.   This means that even if he doesn’t understand the colloquialisms and references buried within rap music, most of the time he will be able to hear the words.

I felt that I was being selfish keeping Kyle’s comments on rap to myself.  Kyle Reviews Rap was born so I could share his reviews with the world.  Enjoy.

3/9/2016 update:

I lost my zeal for writing rap reviews after a while, moved away from New York, and ended up writing a long novel.  If KRE develops readership, I'd be thrilled to once again bring more of my uniformed scathing rap rending to those who enjoy it.
